The Carnival Fantasy is the lead Fantasy class cruise ship for Carnival Cruise Lines. She currently sails on four and five day itineraries to Cozumel from New Orleans, Louisiana. She went into service in 1990, and was initially based out of the Port of Miami. Due to the oil spill on the Mississippi River near the Crescent City Connection bridge on July 23, 2008, the Carnival Fantasy has been homeported in Mobile, Alabama until it goes into a 28 day drydock for it's "Evolutions of Fun" upgrades. After the drydock, Carnival Fantasy will be again homeported in New Orleans. On August 18, 2008 Carnival announced that the Fantasy would be permanently based out of Mobile, Alabama beginning in November 2009 replacing the MS Holiday.
